MICHAEL G. VALENCIA, CPA

Michael grew up in the northeast. Upon completing a cum-laude degree from Seton Hall University in New Jersey, he was recruited by the New York City office of an international accounting firm. From New York City he transferred to the Miami office where he continued his career and attained the level of senior manager.

As a consequence of the leverage-buy-out frenzy of the late eighties, he was recruited by a $100 million-sales NYSE listed Company to act as its Chief Financial Officer. During his tenure at this Company, Mr. Valencia and management took the Company private and subsequently sold it to an investor group. After completing this mission, Mr. Valencia opted to reenter public accounting and founded a Boca Raton, Florida based boutique accounting firm which recently merged with Berkovits & Company, LLP.

During his career, Michael has managed the audits and the SEC filings of multinational enterprises such as Pfizer, Inc (NYSE), Colgate Palmolive, Inc, (NYSE), Assurant Group (NYSE), as well as those of many middle market companies engaged in the manufacturing, banking, finance, insurance and real estate industries. He has also been involved in management consulting and tax planning services. As a service to one of his previous clients, Mr. Valencia acted as the CEO of a company for a period of three years. During his tenure he managed every aspect of the Company, he became intimately involved in product development, manufacturing, and the national marketing and distribution of patented products.

Mike is responsible for co-managing the firm’s audit and SEC Reporting and Compliance practice. He currently manages the firms SEC and non-SEC audit clients which encompass a multitude of different-size clients in a variety of industries. His extensive auditing and consulting experience has proven valuable in helping clients achieve their goals and objectives.

Mike has served as an officer of the South Florida Historical Society, the Latin American Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees International and Junior Achievement. He has also participated in educational seminars where he has conducted sessions that familiarize professionals with emerging issues facing management, financial reporting and internal controls. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of the American Management Association.
