STEVEN W. SCHWARTZ,

Steve was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received his B.B.A. in accounting
in 1967 from Pace College. After graduation he served in the Army Finance
Corps. He subsequently moved to Florida in 1971 where he was employed
by a national accounting firm to specialize in the area of corporate and
individual taxation. At this national firm he attained the level of manager.
He received his C.P.A. Certificate from the State of Florida Board of
Accountancy in 1973.
In 1983 he left this national firm and joined another firm as tax manager
in the Fort Lauderdale office.
Some of Steve’s accomplishments and recent tax projects have included:
• Facilitating partnership asset purchase allocations for basis,
thereby saving current taxes and reducing overall gain on sales, and increasing
current and future cash flows
• Structuring U.S. subsidiary liquidations of foreign corporations
• Initiating Federal and State tax compliance reporting systems
for businesses, thereby facilitating proper and timely filing and payments
of current taxes and eliminating potential penalties
• Reviewing filed Federal and State tax returns and initiating refund
claims
• Contesting proposed Federal and State audit adjustments, thereby
saving clients unwarranted tax and penalty assessments
Due to his tenure with national and local accounting firms, he brings
to Berkovits & Company, LLP extensive tax knowledge in dealing
with a wide assortment of various clients and entities in different industries.
This knowledge concentrated in taxation covers, federal, state and foreign
tax planning, advice, projections, research and opinions. His extensive
experience in representing different entities in tax examinations by taxing
authorities is extremely beneficial to our clients.
